Teaching Activity



For me, classroom is not only a matter of conveying material, teacher and students, but also a matter of interaction between teacher and students. It is also about motivating students and encouraging students to learn better. How a lesson progress and whether it is successful or not largely depends on the interaction that I have with the students. When I am able to generate such a good interaction with the students, the classroom atmosphere is going to be enjoyable that encourage students to learn better. For me, students can learn better when they do not feel frustrated.  

I am sure in teaching English as a second language, the interaction become much more important thing in classroom. When I interact to the students, actually I create such a relax classroom atmosphere which makes students get motivated to share their opinion, participate in every activity that I provide. Moreover when I interact using English, it will become more useful for them. In short, the students do not only learn the language but also use it as a medium of learning and practice to use it at once.

My teaching objective besides conveying the material for the students to learn, I also create such an attractive interaction in order to motivate and encourage students to learn better by having relax classroom atmosphere. In this case, I convey the material by wrapping the material in such an attractive way. To teach particular material, I always try to choose attractive topic that the students like, for example; I choose music as a topic to teach “present tense” then they are encouraged to learn by having their favorite musician as a topic.  


Since I am a teacher, I realize that I am the generator of the learning process. I influence the classroom interaction very much. Some other important key to encourage students to learn is feedback to student’s performance. I pay much attention in giving feedback to student’s performance, I am always careful to give appropriate feedback for students otherwise the students will get offended and discouraged do learn. For example I will not ever say “stupid” for student who makes a mistake.

I believe that the learning process will get better when it is done in relax classroom situation. The results I have seen in my students are quite positive. Almost all of them are encouraged to learn English. I can see that they are attracted to ask some question, do the task that I give, participate well in every activity that I provide.         
Teaching seems like cooking where I have to make our own recipe to get delicious meals.
